Remembrance Day - Veteran's Day
ENDLESS HISTORY
On a cold, compassionless night,
our countries stand in flames.
Our bodies were trained
to hate and to destroy
- everything our forefathers
once worked so hard for.
And so I go on, do my duty.
Night and day, I obey the orders.
Giving it my all, I lift my gun,
aim at those behind the enemy line,
kill a couple more, make a few more
widows and orphans in need of care.
Bullets fly over our heads.
Huddling up in the mud
I wonder just how long we will
last, ducking here in the ditches
of the fields where we lie among
the aching wounded and the dead.
Blindly we stumble, fall and rise again,
trying to make our way forward.
Do I dare to lift my head?
Do I dare to look ahead?
By now fear has sneaked into the bones
of every one of them once so brave men.
And I carry on doing what I have to do,
just to get by, just so I can barely
stay alive - to watch the end of it all.
But will it ever come to an end?
With one battle finished and an endless road ahead...
I seem to be loosing more than sight and faith!
Once I was walking upright and straight,
was able to look into peoples’ eyes.
On honour, duty, bravery and patriotism
I was recruited to serve with courage.
A proud job it was supposed to be,
a clean and heroic thing to do.
Now I creep through ditches,
Sneak up to the enemy,
hide behind whatever gives me shelter.
The only heroic feeling I will ever know
will be thanks to morphine at my last refuge,
a stretcher in red cross tent
- if I at all should get that lucky!
Thoughts wander on a sleepless night
like fire eats its way through dry woods.
In the name of freedom, country and old glory
- what is it, that I have signed up to do?!
Screams of terror, dying faces
and the unbearable stench
won’t slip my mind, as I finally find uneasy rest.
I briefly dream of enemies I struck down,
recall a fraction of a second’s eye contact,
a glimpse of humanity, the flame of life going out...
Wide awake without really having slept at all,
I meet the new day in a haze, realizing that nothing
ever will help me out of this godforsaken maze!
History will write my final ending,
Will add up right and wrong of all the men
who met in anger and hate,
without ever getting to know one another.
- A history, which should have told about
the greatness of civilization!Mittwoch, 30. September 2009
Our Farm ¤¤¤ UNSER HOF
ICH WERDE OFT DANACH GEFRAGT, WIE'S DENN BEI UNS AUSSIEHT. HIER EIN EINBLICK - SOWOHL VON INNEN, WIE VON AUSSEN:
The back of the house.
DIE FARM VOM PRIVATEN GARTEN HINTER DEM HAUS.
The front of the house, seen from the yard...
TEIL DER VORDEREN ANSICHT - ABENDS - VOM HOF AUS...
One of the guestrooms...
EINES DER GÄSTEZIMMER...
another guestroom...
EIN ANDERES GÄSTEZIMMER...
The living room. It's rather dark, with heavy curtains, because this is where the main TV is, so it's a little bit like a cinema with a fire place... the library is bright with light curtains...
DAS WOHNZIMMER HAT SCHWERE GARDINEN, DENN ES IST SO EINE ART KINO MIT HÜTTENGEMÜTLICHKEIT AM WÄRMENDEN OFEN...
The dining room... you can see i'm sorting out bedcovers, which are all spread over one of the sofas...
DAS ESSZIMMER - BIN BEIM WÄSCHESORTIEREN, WIE MAN SEHEN KANN...
The fireplace - most essential! Because this is also where we barbecue in winter...
DER OFEN - GANZ WICHTIG! DENN HIER WIRD GEGRILLT UND IM WINTER BRATÄPFEL GESCHMORT...
I didn't realize it until recently, but I guess, I am a bit of a collector...
MUSS ZUGEBEN, ICH BIN WOHL AUCH EIN WENIG VOM SAMMELN BEFALLEN...
... basically old paintings (this is one of my favorite ones)
ICH SAMMLE HAUPTSÄCHLICH ALTE GEMÄLDE
... china and glasses...
PORZELLAN UND GLÄSER...
ironically I don't make much out of it...
ALSO DAS IST NICHTS, WO ICH GROSS WAS DRAUS MACHE... ES IST EBEN SO, DASS ICH ETWAS KAUFE, WENN ICH IRGENDWO WAS HÜBSCHES SEHEN UND NACH EINIGEN JAHREN KOMMT DANN SCHON SO EINIGES ZUSAMMEN...
but I do like pretty things and whenever I do see something I like I get it. After all those years it has naturally added up and these days we could not live in a small home anymore...
One of the bedrooms...
EINES DER SCHLAFZIMMER...
I try not to overdo it with all the romantic stuff...
ICH VERSUCHE ES NICHT ZU SEHR MIT ROMANTIK ZU ÜBERHÄUFEN...
otherwise I find it difficult to stay focussed on what really matters in life... but i need a comfortable and simple home that's easy to keep and where it's nice to be!
DENN ANSONSTEN FINDE ICH ES SCHWER, SICH NOCH AUF DAS WIRKLICH ZU KONZENTRIEREN...
My office (also while I'm tidying up...).
ABER ES IST MIR WICHTIG, EIN ZUHAUSE ZU HABEN, WAS EINFACH ZU HALTEN IST UND WO MAN SICH SO RICHTIG WOHL FÜHLT!
I have two very tall shelves because I need to store lots of materials...)
MEIN BÜRO IST KLEIN, ABER ICH HABE SEHR VIEL STAUPLATZ IN DEN REGALEN...
We tore out the old kitchen taht was in the house when we bought it. Luckily the old owner was happy to take it back. So everybody won and had what they really wanted. so this is my new oldfashioned kitchen.
DIE KÜCHE IST ZWAR NEU, ABER TROTZDEM ALTMODISCH...
One of the paintings I restored recently. I LOVE that picture! is also very typical for our region...
Many of the old paintings I buy look like another window of the house, because they just show a natural view of the surroundings.
EINES MEINER LIEBVLINGSGEMÄLDE, HAB ICH ERST NEULICH RESTAURIERT...
The kitchen. Both British and Scandinavian influences are quite noticable.
MAN KANN SOWOHL BRITISCHE, WIE SKANDINAVISCHE AKZENTE BEMERKEN...
The bathroom.
DAS BAD...
The fruit garden is my favorite garden. The grounds are divided into 6 gardens with each of them having their own charm. I mostely let them grow as wild as possible, so it looks natural, rich and flourishing.
DEN OBSTGARTEN MAG ICH AM LEIBSTEN.
We are blessed with many fruit bushes and fruit trees...
ZU UNSEREM ANWESEN GEHÖREN 6 KL. GÄRTEN.
Some parts of the garden are quite wild and I really love "getting lost" there!
MANCHE SIND GANZ SCHÖN WILD. MAN KANN SICH DARIN SOGAR VERIRREN UND NIEMAND FINDET EINEN...

HERE ARE SOME PRETTY GREENS FROM JENY FROM MALAYSIA.
I would like to share them with everybody who likes reading this post.
HIER EINEN SCHÖNEN AWARD VON JENNY. ICH MÖCHTE IHN MIT JENEN TEILEN, DIE DIESEN POST GERNE LESEN. FÜHLT EUCH BESCHENKT!

recent events### WAS SO ALLES LOS WAR...
But now to more carefree things:
there are two ways one can access Denmark from the south-east:
Either you take the ferry from Puttgarden to Rødby Havn or you
BEI UNS IST UNGLAUBLICH VIEL LOS GEWESEN.
ABER EINE SACHE DIE ECVHT DOOF IST, IST DER UMSTAND, DASS ICH AUF ETLICHEN BLOGS, WIE Z.B. AUF DORIS' KEINE KOMMENTARE MEHR ABGEBEN KANN.
UND WENN DIE LEUTE DANN KEINE E-MAIL-ADRESSE ANGEGEBEN HABEN, DANN KANN ICH WIRKLICH NUR NOCH STILLSCHWEIGEND LESEN... ECHT NERVIG UND KEINER WEISS WARUM MEIN PC SO IST...

DOCH NUN ZU BESSERERN DINGEN:
WENN MAN NACH DK WILL UND VON SÜDEN MIT DER FÄHRE KOMMT, DANN FÄHRT MAN ENTWEDER ÜBER PUTTGARDEN (OBEN) ODER WIE UNTEN ÜBER ROSTOCK.

go from Rostock to Gedser. This passage is twice as long and the boats don't sail as often.

In the end of summer and during autumn many small communities or sports clubs arrange for a fleamarkt and so we visited many of these recently. But more about that later...
Above you see my little son enjoying a big icecream.
It's after one of those feamarkets and we wanna go down to the beach...
JETZT IST DIE ZEIT DER VIELEN FOHMÄRKTE UND DER STRAND LÄD NOCH IMMER EIN...

Why I'm wearing this many clothes? Well you see it isn't exactly hot down there by the water...
WARUM ICH SO VIEL AN HABE+ NA KLAR, AM WASSER IST'S DOCH KALT!

Our oldest son doesn't feel like it anyway and he just stays in the car, watching the loas, since the trailer is a bit too packed and there's not really any place at all where we can park...
MEIN ÄLTESTER SOHN BLEIBT DAHER LIEBER GLEICH IM AUTO...

Down by the water we realize that the hot days of august have left too much plankton in the water... so we don't really feel like swimming between all that...
UND DANN SEHEN WIR DASS IM WASSER DIESMAL SO VIELE ALGEN SIND... DER AUGUST WAR EBEN ZU WARM...

Here's one of the smaller fleamarkets in Marielyst, mainly for German tourists and frankly those suck!
EIN FLOHMARKT IN MARIENLYST... IST ABER NICHT SO GUT...

However... we've just been to a REAL fleamarket and got two trailer loads for just peanuts. So it was definitely worth it and we had sooo much fun! But now of course I'm stuck with all the hard work. The barns are full with furtiture, in fact it looks like a furniture store! And someone has to not only clean them, but much of it has to be sanded down and painted afterall. But then it does look quite amazing!
I reacently restored a very beautiful painting which I got for only 10 kr. (That's less than 2 bucks and about 1,50€), just to realized, that it's no wonder at all, that the painting is so beautiful, the artist is quite a famous guy!
But when I bought it, it looked so bad, you could only really throw it out...
ABER WIR WAREN BEI EINEM ANDEREN UND DER WAR WIRKLICH GUT, HABEN GLEICH 2 ANHÄNGER UND 2 AUTOS VOLL GEKAUFT...

lots is blossoming and blooming in our garden... and naturally we picked up tons of garden furniture on the fleamarkets which after they were cleaned looked almost like new.
UND IM GARTEN GRÜNT UND BLÜHT AUCH ALLES...

Can you guess what this is?
Well for one thing the outside of the main house is now plastered and painted...
but who is visiting?
RATET MAL, WAS DAS IST!

On that particular day we had a butterfly-invasion! They were everywhere!
And also in general: we use no pesticides and other things so we have a very rich wild life in our gardens - and also many different butterflies!
JA, NATÜRLICH, DAS HAUS IST ENDLICH ABGEPUTZT UND GESTRICHEN, ABER WIR HABEN AUCH SO VIELE SCHMETTERLINGE!

after the boys had finished platering they put up the left over construction-stuff and started shooting at each other with water guns!
DIE JUNGENS BEI EINEM WASSERKAMPF...

here's a new award from Melontha
http://bluemli-garten.blogspot.com/
that is called the "gift of love-award".
I would like to pass this on to Brad, Jenny, Rita, Kathrin, Doris, Andy, Chrissi and Annie.
Enjoy!

UP NORTH ¤¤¤ GEN NORDEN
Back on the road... what else is new?
Well this time we went through Sweden, looking for a cabin to buy.
We thought financial crisis and all that sort of thing... so we once again were trying to find the place we'd dreamt of for so long.
WIEDER EINMAL IN SCHWEDEN UND AUCH DIESMAL SCHAUEN WIR NACH EINER HÜTTE.
But even if you are able to the sum on the table in cash, it doesn't make any difference. It seems that what is meant to be is what is meant to be. And this seems to be something which wasn't meant to be.
The signs show we're about to enter Lapland and the town of Dorothea.
FAHREN QUER DURCH'S LAND
It isn't that we went into it completely unprepared. We've spent ages in the internet and my husband had everything planned down to the smallest details and I had checked out all the describtions and called many an estate agent, which really isn't the easiest thing to do, since they're often out in the woods, showing properties and mobile connections don't cover as well as they should...
HABEN ALLES GUT GEPLANT
Well to make a looong story short... we looked at 2 properties - a third one was sold, while we were on the way up there - and bought none of them.
One was more or less what we wanted, but the area was too domesticated, nothing wild about it and the access road was own by somebody else and lots of other flaws and then there was that young couple who really wanted to have it, it seemed to be their dream come true, so we let them have it.
So we made an offer for a place down in the south, close to Mora. Also not really what we wanted, but as an investment it was alright.
Meanwhile we were hanging around in Luleå - temps incredibly high - and i was wondering why it never gets as warm in Denmark. Do I really have to go close to the polar cirle to experience a heat wave?!
UND DOCH FUNKTIONIERT ES NICHT SO, WIE WIR UNS DAS VORGESTELLT HABEN...
Local market was cute and small.
DOCH TROTZDEM GENIESSEN WIR DIE REISE...
Smoked fish is something people really love in the north.
HIER DEN MARKT IN LULEÅ,
But this was nothing exciting, not even Siika, just trout I believe...
GANZ IM NORDEN DES LANDES...
fresh ecological potatoes...
ZURÜCK IM HOTEL
Rethinking our position we went back to our hotel.
DENEKN WIR ÜBER ALLES NACH.
Mind you, the receptionist was nice...
No, seriously, staff was very friendly and helpful in Nordkalotten, rooms okay, but breakfast really sucked. however, I hardly ever eat breakfast anyway... fruit is much better...
NORDKALOTTEN IST ZU EMPFEHLEN, GUTER SERVICE, ABER DAS FRÜHSTÜCK WAR NICHT GUT.
I loved the interior design of the reception and the dining area. Meant to take some pics of taht beautiful fireplace, but forgot.
EINGANGSHALLE, REZEPTION UND SPEISEZIMMER SIND SEHR SCHÖN, ZIMMER NICHTS BESONDERES, ABER TROTZDEM ANGENEHM.
In the back there was a small lake.
HINTER DEM HAUS IST EIN KLEINER SEE.
Eventually all calls were made - between potential buyers, sellers and estateagents and even the offer we had put in on one of the houses was rejected.
I can't believe the other buyer went this high, because the property really wasn't worth it. But there's a reason for everything and I guess they just really wanted it and then it's probably for the best taht they got it and not us. I hope they will be happy there.
As for us... it was really disappointing and heartbreaking to onece again having gone all the way up to Lapland, being sure that we'd at least buy one of these cabins and yet comming home again without nothing. When we went up before we had been completely sure of what we wanted and thought we'd take it as well...
But when we were finally home we sat down and brainstormed, checked for flaws in our thinking and then it hit us: what we were looking at all this time wasn't at all what we truely wanted. that's why it never worked out for us!
What we really wanted is a cabin FAR north, next to the arctic ocean.
So we checked out the market there and found definitely some possibilities.
And some good bargains!
One place was even available for just 1 Dkr.! Seriously!
But I don't think anyone is gonna buy that one, even though it's in excellent condition. You see the catch is... it's really out in the arctic ocean on a small island with your only neighbours being polar bears... not even as civalized as Greenland (which by the way DOES belong to Denmark!!!)
However... the place where we really wanna be... there are definitely possibilities and we will check that out in the near future.
SO, WIE SCHON GESAGT, DIE SACHE MIT DER HÜTTE WURDE NICHTS, ALSO FAHREN WIR WIEDER NACH HAUSE.
Finally on the way home, we found this nice place on the E 4.
You can see more here:
www.fiskecampen.se
SÜDLICH VON LULEÅ FINDEN WIR EINEN UNGEWÖHNLICHEN NATURCAMPINGPLATZ.
Had a great time, nice people, nice nature, great salmon!
IST ZU EMPFEHLEN UND GANZ BESONDERS AUCH DER FRISCHGERÄUCHERTE FISCH!
Not everybody has got the same type of boat...
HIER GIBT'S SO EINIGES ZU SEHEN...
A slightly different coffee shop...
DAS CAFÉ IST ETWAS ANDERS...
Dinner over an open fire, wog gets a different meaning...
UND AUCH DIE KÜCHE...
Outdoor-buffet and kitchen.
ES GIBT AUCH EIN MUSEUM
The place includes a museaum as well...
UND VIELE ARTIFACTS...
You can either camp out or hire a cabin...
We spent some time there before we headed south again...
HÜTTE ODER WHG KANN MAN HIER AUCH MIETEN...
Eventually we made it across to indlandsvägen, always trying to chose the roads which have the fewest speed cameras and the best views...
SCHLIESSLICH FAHREN WIR QUER DURCH'S LAND, VON DER E4 AN DER OSTKÜSTE ZU INLANDSVÄGEN...
I just loved this railroad crossing high up with a beautiful view over the mountains and all the forrest...
SCHÖNER BAHNÜBERGANG
So we didn't get a house, but still the trip was nice,
OBEN AUF DEM BERG, TOLLE AUSSIECHT ÜBER BERGE UND WÄLDER...
we enjoyed Mother Nature
MUTTER NATUR IST WIE IMMER GROSSZÜGIG UND VERWÖHNT...
and brought home lots of special food.
NACHTS SCHLAFEN WIR MEIST IM AUTO IM WALD...
Most of the time we'd sleep in the car in the woods,
DAS IST MIR WESENTLICH ANGENEHMER UND PRAKTISCHER, WEINN MAN AUF TOUR IST...
the one night in the hotel was an exception. I just find hotels too stiff and anoying, most of the time it's more practical to just camp out where you are.
WEIT NÖRDLICH ODER HOCH AUF DEM BERG WACHSEN NUR NOCH KLEINE BÄUME...
When you're far north and/or high up trees don't grow that well anymore.
Tiny birch trees are really quite charctaristic.
KLEINE BIRKEN SIND SO CHARKTERISTISCH...
Campfire under the bridge - not us though. But we haven't seen another human being for some hundred kilometres so it's proof, we're not completely alone...
LAGERFEUER UNTER DER BRÜCKE - DOCH NICHT UNSERS. ABER NACH ETLICHEN HUNDERT KILOMETERN SEHEN WIR MAL WIEDER MENSCHEN...
A typical nordic sunset
EIN SEHR TYPISCHER SONNENUNTERGANG... UND ICH SEHNE MICH NOCH MEHR NACH EINER EIGENEN HÜTTE. DOCH DIE WIRD AUCH KOMMEN, NUR WAHRSCHEINLICH NICHT IN SCHWEDEN, WAHRSCHEINLICH DOCH IN NORWEGEN - AM POLARMEER!
The property we had made a bid on. Quiote ironical that there is supposed to be a financial crisis and yet people still seem to have plenty of money for the things they really want.
Mind you, I've also seen it reversed: in times of a so called economical boom, where everybody was just supposed to be so well off and yet my personal situation was so much worse than it should have been... so as far as I am concerned, the media is never right. I wouldn't even trust their weather forecast! And as for you and me and our future... we make it anyway the way we wanna make it. If you wiork hard and deliver what is wanted and needed, then yiou're gonna be alright... if you've lost all believe in that you can win against any crisis - it's most likely to get to you. So whatever you do, don't believe the dooms-day-preachers. Make something of yourself and your resources and you're gonna be just fine!
DAS WAR EINES DER HÄUSER, DIE WIR KAUFEN WOLLTEN.

I have received a number of awards in the past weeks/months which I never put up and now is the time to share them with you.
But I won't limit them to just a few people. This here is such a beautiful award and it would be a shame to limit it to a few of you. Anybody who feels like we are having a friendship and who would like to have this award please feel welcome to take it and my friendship as well!
The two lovely friends who have awarded it to me were Brad and Jenny,
Thank you both for thinking of me and it's so nice knowing such gentle and lovely people like you two. you always try and be friends with everybody around you, that's what you have in common, even though you both live so far apart.
You are very nice, decent and faithful friends and you make the world a nicer place by spreading your gentle and helpful ideas through the bloggersphere and elsewhere in life. it's a pleasure knowing you both and I hope to be able to share your friendship for many more years to come!

Country Road ¤¤¤ Landweg
The problem when you own a little country road, is that you have to keep it clear. This path to the south of our farm is the access road to the ground behind our farm in the north-east.
DER KLEINE WEG HINTER UNSEREM HOF
Yesterday I did my best to at least cut the longest branches off and stuff them unto the trailer.
My youngest son helped me squeezing it all together, so that my oldest son wouldn't complain too much because he thought the load was too big...
NATÜRLICH MÜSSEN WIR IHN FREI HALTEN...
ABER DA ER UNS GEHÖRT KANN EIGENTLICH KEINER DRÜBER MECKERN, WENN WIR ES NICHT TUN.
ICH LIEBE DIESEN WEG! ES IST DORT WIE IM WALD UND WIR HABEN EINE LANGE, WILDE UND SEHR ERGIEBIGE BROMBEERHECKE DORT.
I really love that little road and I love that it's completely overgrown. Makes you feel like you're in the forrest and it's just so peaceful an quiet there!
To the left we have a lot of blackberry bushes and lots of different fruit trees. I really enjoy picking all the fruits in autumn and we also keep the fruit garden kind of wild. Keeps the wild animals there and it's just so nice to be there! It still feels like you can get lost there.
Mind you it always looks so nice and tidy on TV when you watch survival programs... some parts of our garden do appear to be completely wild and almost impossible to make your way through! I usually wear long-johns when I have to make my way through thorny bushes like blackberries - that keeps the risk of injuring yourself significantly low - and rather than cutting my way through, I would just push the branches down with my feet.
Believe it or not, it's fun to do and I usually pick so many blackberries that don't know what to do with them, because my freezers are chronically overfilled and we try to avoid eating preserves for health reasons. So when it's blackberry-season we all tend to have blue teeth and faces because we just eat so many of them for almost every meal...
Life in the country
Back to the country, into Mother Nature's arms.
Watching sunrises over the frozen sea, Rediscovering the basics;
Like the reek of fresh manure!
Happened to forget the butter in the shop. Never mind! It's only 7 days until I can get back!
Getting to appreciate life's simple pleasures again:
Hurray! Today the washing machine isn't frozen!
I treat myself to the freedom
Of getting up with the chickens,
Take a break from modern pressures
And work voluntary through half of the night.
Carefully chosen rustique ambiente
Does suddenly become a bare necessity.
I am making my own bread, butter and cloths,
Living the life of centuries ago!
In search of a meaning
-From Macrobiotics to Creative Visualization-
I end up finding my final enlightment
In the shape of a lightbulb that actually does work!
Experiencing life at first hand
With soil under my finger nails and grease in my face,
I work to make my life's dream come true
In this oh so beautiful and almost untouched wilderness.
No sings of civilization, no company,
Nothing here to disturb me in my self-chosen solitude.
Guess, this is what the end of the world must look like!
Just hope, Columbus was right and I won't fall off the edge!

Birthdays ¤¤¤ Geburtstage
THINGS HAVE BEEN REALLY HECTIC HERE RECENTLY (WHAT ELSE IS NEW?!) WITH TWO BIRTHDAYS, GUESTS, RENOVATIONS AND LOTS OF OTHER WORK WITH NEEDED URGENT ATTENTION...
DAVID (IN THE BACK TURNED 26)...
David wurde 26...
AND JEAN-MICHEL (IN THE FRONT) TURNED 27.
und Jean-Michel 27.
AS USUAL, THERE WAS LOTS AND LOTS OF FOOD...
Wie immer gab es viel zu futtern...
(BUT DON'T GET YOUR HOPES UP, WE MAINLY SERVE HEALTHY STUFF HERE - YOU KNOW THE SORT OF STUFF YOUR FOOD EATS... BUT HEY, WE LIKE IT, IT REALLY DOES TASTE YUMMY!)
AND NATURALLY THERE WERE LOTS OF PRESENTS, TOO...
Natürlich gab's auch viele Geschenke...
AND MORE PRESENTS...
AND GAMES...
Faxen haben sie natürlich auch gemacht...
AND JOKES...
AND MORE PRESENTS...
OH AND HERE COME MY FAVORITE COOKIES FROM FRANCE, REALLY REALLY YMMY AND MADE WITH REAL INGRIDIENCE, BUTTER AND THAT SORT OF THING, NO ARTIFICIAL CRAP!
Und meine Lieblingskekse, aus Frankreich mitgebracht...
AND THESE ARE THE FLOWERS FROM THE GARDEN, WHICH I GOT FOR THE BOYS. RIGHT NOW IT SEEMS THE ENTIRE GARDEN IS IN BLOOM! WE STARTED ON A VEGGETABKLE PATCH AND ALSO THE WILD LIFE SEEMS TO ENJOY ITSELF ON OUR GROUND, JUST WISH THAT THE STUPID BATS WOULD LEARN TO NAVIGATE A LITTLE BETTER, OR LET'S SAY: NOT ALWAYS LEAVE IT UP TO THE VERY LAST SPLIT OF A SECOND TO BREAK AWAY! HERAD, THEY NAVIGATE BY "RADAR", WELL FINE WITH ME, BUT WHAT ABOUT A LITTLE PRE-WARNING-SYSTEM OR SOMETHING LIKE THAT? WE ALMOST COLLEDED WITH THEM SEVERAL TIMES...

TIME FOR THE BEACH AGAIN. THIS TIME IT SEEMED EVEN COLDER... CAN THAT BE?!
Und wieder sind wir auf zum Strand!

HEJ, HEJ, HEJ! GET YOUR HANDS OF MY LITTLE ONE! HE'S MIIIIIIIINE!!!
Hey, hey, hey! Nimm deine Finger von meinem kleinen Würmchen! Er gehört mir und mir allein!

THAT'S A LITTLE BETTER...
Nun das ist schon etwas besser...

THIS IS PERFECT! (HE IS AFTERALL MUMMY'S LITTLE BABY, ISN'T HE?!)
BY THE WAY: BAD HAIR DAY FOR BOTH OF US...
In der Tat: So sollte es sein!

DAVID, MY OLDEST SON.
David, mein ältester Sohn.

THE LADIES... WELL OKAY, ONE LADY AND ME...

WELL THE KIDS AREN'T GETTING ANY YOUNGER, ARE THEY?!
Echt, die Kinder werden wirklich nicht jünger...

THE BEACH ON FALSTER REALLY SEEMS ENDLESSLY LONG AND IT'S FUN TO JUST WALK AND WALK, IN ALL KIND OF WEATHER!

THE BOYS WENT FOR GOLF AGAIN.
Aber die Jungens wollen lieber Golf spielen...

WHILE SHOKUFEH AND I ENJOYED THE SEA...
während Shokufeh und ich das Meer geniessen...

ONE PRETTY LADY...
I REALLY, REALLY LOVE THE SEA AND I FIND IT ALMOST IMBAREBLE THAT WE LIVE SO FAR AWAY FROM IT (2KM) AND WE HAVEN'T YET PUT ANY WINDOS INTO THE ATTIC SO I CAN SEE IT WHEN I WRITE... I JUST REALLY NEED THE WIND AND THE SEA, IT MAKES ME FEEL SO ALIVE AND REFRESHED. I ALWAYS THOUGHT LIFE ON LAND WAS BORING AND REALLY HATED HAVING TO SPENT THE FIRST YEARS OF MY LIFE IN GERMANY, FAR AWAY FROM THE SEA.

Back from Paris ¤¤¤ Gerade aus Paris zurück

We've just returned from Paris. We had a great time, but got almost no sleep... I will be posting pictures later, but I thought, I might just share this one with you. My youngest son, Mark, took this picture with his mobile (cell) phone, before we were entering the pyramid at the Louvre.
WIR SIND GERADE AUS PARIS ZURÜCKGEKOMMEN UND ES WAR SEHR SCHÖN DORT, ABER WIR HABEN KAUM GESCHLAFEN... WERDE SPÄTER ANDERE FOTOS POSTEN, DOCH HIER ERST MAL EIN BILD VOM LOUVRE, DAS MEIN SOHN MIT DEM HANDY MACHTE, KURZ BEVOR WIR HINEINGINGEN...

Bail out the planet / Rettet die Welt

Dear friends, (deutsche Leser: siehe bitte den Link unten, allerletzte Linie)
On Tuesday, three hundred and forty concerned citizens gathered in Brussels to block the exits of the building where European finance ministers were discussing funding for climate change. We wanted to keep them inside until they came up with money to tackle climate change in developing countries.
European leaders recognise that rich countries must provide funds to developing nations so that they can reduce greenhouse gas emmissions and adapt to climate change. So far, they have not put a single euro on the table. Each country’s contribution towards a climate bailout plan is based on its ability to pay and its level of responsibility in causing climate change. Based on this, European governments should contribute €35 billion a year by 2020, the equivalent of just €1.30 a week per European citizen. The price of a bus ticket.
In spite of our best efforts, ministers continued to dither yesterday. Once all of the protesters had been arrested, they managed to leave the building without committing a cent of public money. Instead they had made an empty promise for investments from the private sector, which they can neither predict nor control.
Now it is up to Heads of States to make the final decision at the EU Summit next week, 19-20 March. If they also fail to come up with solid financial support, it will threaten the success of a deal at the UN Climate Summit in Copenhagen this December. And that will literally cost us the earth.
The Polish government is being particularly obstructive to progress. It is avoiding the funding issue and does not want to take the responsibility for its huge emissions and contribution to climate change.
Help us to convince polish Prime Minister Mr. Tusk not to block the climate change deal.
Mr. Tusk talks of solidarity. Without global solidarity we will not solve the climate crisis. Send him an e-mail asking him to live up to his words by showing solidarity to developing countries’ efforts to avert and adapt to climate change.
No money, no deal, no future.
Every letter is important.
Thank you for your attention,
Eoin, Agnes & the entire Climate Team

Frösche
SEITE LESEN KONNTEN)
arranged a running competition.
ES WAR EIN MAL EINE GRUPPE FRÖSCHE, DIE EINEN WETTBERB ARRANGIERTEN.
The goal was to reach the top of a very high tower.
DAS ZIEL WAR DIE KUPPEL EINES SEHR HOHEN TURMES.
A big crowd had gathered around the tower to see the
race and cheer on the contestants....
EINE GROSSE GRUPPE VON ZUSCHAUERN SCHERTE SICH ANFEUERND UM DIESEN TURM...
The race began....
DER WETTBEWERB BEGANN...
Honestly,no one in crowd really believed that the tiny
frogs would reach the top of the tower.
ABER NIEMAND IN DER MENGE GLAUBTE DARAN,. DASS IRGEND EINER DER FRÖSCHE JE DIE KUPPEL ERREICHEN KONNTE!
You heard statements such as:
UND SO MACHTE SIE BEMERKUNGEN WIE:
"Oh, WAY too difficult!!"
"DAS IST VIEL ZU SCHWIERIG!"
"اوه,عجب کار مشکلی!!"
"They will NEVER make it to the top."
"SIE WERDEN NIE DEN GIPFEL ERREICHEN!"
"اونها هیچ وقت به نوک برج نمی رسند."
or:
ODER:
یا:
"Not a chance that they will succeed. The tower is too
high!"
"ES IST VÖLLIG UNMÖGLICH, DASS IRGEND JEMAND ES SCHAFFEN KÖNNTE, DIESER TURN IST VIEL ZU HOCH!!!"
"هیچ شانسی برای موفقیتشون نیست.برج خیلی بلند ه!"
The tiny frogs began collapsing. One by one....
UND SO GESCHAH ES, DASS DIE KLEINEN FRÖSCHE NACH UND NACH SCHLAPP MACHTEN.
Except for those, who in a fresh tempo, were climbing
higher and higher....
- AUSSER DENEN NATÜRLICH, DIE STETS IN NEUER ENERGIE IM HÖHER UND HÖHER HINAUS FLITZTEN!
The crowd continued to yell, "It is too difficult!!! No one
will make it!"
DOCH DIE MENGE SETZTE IHRE NEGATIVEN RUFE FORT!
"ES IST ZU SCHWER, NIEMAND WIRD ES SCHAFFEN!"
More tiny frogs got tired and gave up....
MEHR UND MEHR FRÖSCHE WURDEN MÜDE UND MUSSTEN LETZTENDLICH AUFGEBEN.
...
But ONE continued higher and higher and higher....
ABER EINEINZIGER STETZE EINFACH FORT UND KLETTERTE HÖHER UND HÖHER HINAUF...
This one wouldn't give up!
ER WÜRDE EINFACH NICHT AUFGEBEN, EGAL WAS!
At the end everyone else had given up climbing the
tower. Except for the one tiny frog who, after a big effort,
was the only one who reached the top!
AM ENDE HATTEN ALLE AUFGEGEBN, NUR ER WAR VOLLER ENERGIE SEINER URSPRÜNGLICHEN ABSICHT TREU GEBLIEBEN.
THEN all of the other tiny frogs naturally wanted to
know how this one frog managed to do it?
UND DANN WOLLTEN ALL DIE ANDEREN FRÖSCHE NATÜRLICH WISSEN, WIE ER DAS GESCHAFFT HATTE!
A contestant asked the tiny frog how he had found the
strength to succeed and reach the goal?
GANZ EINFACH:
It turned out....
That the winner was DEAF!!!!
ER WAR TAUB!!!
The wisdom of this story is:
Never listen to other people's tendencies to be negative
UND DIE MORAL VON DER GESCHICHT: HÖR NIEMALS DEN LEUTEN ZU, DIE NEGATIV SIND
or
pessimistic.... because they take your most wonderful
dreams and wishes away from you -- the ones you have in
your heart!
